WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 31, 2022) – L & Company is pleased to announce its flagship brand, HBCU Buzz has been named an honoree of PR Daily’s Content Marketing Awards for its partnership to amplify ABC’s ‘Soul of A Nation.’
In 2021, HBCU Buzz partnered with ABC and MRKT to produce a roundtable series focused on engaging students at historically black colleges and universities. The live, three-part series featured students from several of Black colleges. Participating students were given a curated mailer that included branded merchandise and items from Black-owned companies. The conversation was moderated by 2020 HBCU Top Host, “CDK On The Mic,” and allowed the audience of HBCU students to ask questions directly to the featured journalists.The roundtable series netted more than 6,500 views and 340,000 impressions.
“As a Black-owned, media outlet and marketing agency in the HBCU and African American communities, working with ‘Soul of A Nation’ was personal. The partnership checked so many boxes and it was one of those rare projects that our entire team could rally behind,” says L & Company CEO Luke Lawal. This groundbreaking series was the first broadcast network newsmagazine that aimed to put Black life in America front and center. Each episode presented viewers with a unique window into authentic realities of Black life and dive deeper into this critical moment of racial reckoning.
HBCU Buzz is named in two categories: Winner for Media and Entertainment Campaign and Winner for Diversity Equality and Inclusion Communications. Fellow awardees include Cisco, The Weather Channel, NAACP, State Farm Insurance, The MRKT, Capital One, Intel, Meals on Wheels, and Travel Nurse Across America.
