This year, the fight for justice feels especially urgent. As a result, HBCU Buzz is partnering with National Action Network to make sure the opportunity for mobilizing is not lost.
Together, the two organizations and partners are bringing the HBCU community together to honor the 57th anniversary of the March On Washington with action. In 1963 over 250.000 Americans united beside the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. to fight for their civil rights. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his historic “I Have a Dream” speech. It is truly unfortunate that 57 years later, the same issues are at still stake.
On August 28, 2020 are asking you all to join us for the #CommitmentMarch back in Washington, D.C. This inclusive day of action will demonstrate our advocacy for comprehensive police accountability reform, the Census, and mobilizing voters for the November elections.
The HBCU Buzz team & partners are hosting an HBCU meet-up during the march at McPherson Square Park. HBCU students, alumni, and allies are welcomed to meet us wearing HBCU gear as we join the march. We will have a quick prayer, create signs, and give out the information our communities need. Leading up to this incredible day, we also invite you to join us on Instagram Live to discuss the importance of participating in the march and the value to our HBCU community. That discussion will be held Wednesday August 19th at at 4:00pm PT/ 7:00pm ET.
